The Fourth generation or C4 Corvettes were from 1984-1996. No we didn’t miss 1983, they never produced a 1983 due to the model change and the federal regulation they just started with 1984. This generation started to reverse the HP slide with a base 350cu engine upping the HP to 240 by 1987. The convertible that had been dropped in 1976 was again available. The next styling change ran from 1988-1990. In 1990 the ZR-1 appeared with a boost in performance but with a healthy added cost. The base engine was a 350cu with 245/250 hp. The ZR-1 upped the ante to a 350cu with 375hp along with a big increase in road holding performance. The ZR-1 ran from 1990 to 1995 with a total of 6939 being produced. 1991-1996 finish this generation with another styling change. In 1996 with the dropping of the ZR-1 they added the LT4 engine a 350cu 330hp performer. Again, they had several special models with the 1988 35th Anniversary, 1993 40th Anniversary, 1995 Pace Car, and the 1996 Grand Sport.
