C5-C6 Corvettes 1997-2008 for Sale

The Fifth generation or C5 Corvette arrived in 1997 and ran through 2004. This generation represented another major step in the progress of the Corvette. The C5 ushered in a sports car with a much easier entry and exit for the occupants. The 1997 Corvette had a new engine with a 346cu 345hp engine and started in a coupe only format and followed in 1998 with a convertible. 1998 also saw a Pace Car model for the Indy Race. In 2001 a performance version was introduced with the Z06 tag. This provided another leap in performance raising the hp to 385 followed in 2002 with another raise to 405hp. In 2004 a Commemorative version of both the base and the Z06 version of the Corvette were available.

The current version of the Corvette is the C6 or sixth generation which started in 2005. Chevrolet again provided a significant jump in style, performance, comfort and features. The 2005 is 5.1 inches shorter and 1.1 inches narrower but has a 1.2 inch longer wheel base. Even with those changes the interior space remained about the same as the 2004. The 2005 base engine became the LS2 which is a 364cu 400hp engine. The Z06 reappeared in 2006 with a 427cu 505hp engine and a totally new and different frame than the base models.
